2017 Community Involvement

Highland Bank Employees Volunteering

Highland Bank’s Community Involvement Program (CIP) is designed to make our communities stronger by reciprocating support given to the bank by the customers and communities that we serve.

Our Employees are Given Paid Time Off to Volunteer

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. The benefits of volunteering are enormous to people in need, our communities and our employees.  Helping others kindles happiness, reduces stress, and provides a sense of purpose. Our employees are encouraged to volunteer, on the clock!  In 2017 the bank donated over 400 hours to employees for volunteer activities at local charities, and non-profit organizations. Each quarter, some employees lose their business attire and sport hairnets – at least when we’re serving lunch to children at the Crisis Nursery.

CROSS—Helping Hands Reaching Out

Highland Bank employees volunteered at CROSS in Rogers, a non-profit organization that provides services, food, and household supplies at little-to-no cost to families and individuals in need. We organized donations and assembled more than 80 Easter baskets and decorative bags with plastic eggs, candy, and small toys for children and teens.

Arc Greater Twin Cities

Highland Bank employees unpacked, sorted, and stocked clothing and other donated items at Arc’s Value Village in Bloomington. Our group’s efforts helped generate $5,800 in salable inventory. Proceeds from Arc’s Value Village benefit children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through the work of parent organization, Arc Greater Twin Cities.

Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery

To kick off a week of giving, Highland Bank funded lunch during which our employees prepared and served food to children staying at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery. We hosted community donation drives at all five of our bank branches for items the Crisis Nursery needed most, including children’s clothing, cleaning supplies, diapers, and toys. Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery works to end child abuse and neglect and create strong, healthy families. The Crisis Nursery supports families in crisis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through free, voluntary services.

United Way & Community Health Charities

Highland Bank has been a strong supporter of the United Way since 1994. This year we were excited to partner with both the United Way and, for the first time, Community Health Charities for four days of bank-wide and community events. We hosted in-kind donation drives for Can Do Canines and The Bridge for Youth, and raised more than $39,400 for the Greater Twin Cities United Way and Community Health Charities. Both organizations unite donors with the most trusted charities in our community.

Holiday Helping Hands

2017 was Highland Bank’s fifth year giving to Holiday Helping Hands through the Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce. Holiday Helping Hands provides Christmas gifts to children and families in need within the community. This year we sponsored, shopped for, wrapped, and delivered $1,500 worth of gifts to 30 deserving children.

Lyngblomsten

Team Highland volunteers spread some holiday cheer by donating their time and talents to a special group of elders. We visited with the senior citizens living at Lyngblomsten, and assisted them in their annual holiday cookie-decorating event. Lyngblomsten is a nonprofit organization serving older adults and their families through healthcare, housing, and community-based services.

COMMITTED TO YOUR PROSPERITY is Highland Bank’s Mission Statement.

We are:

  • Committed to: be passionately driven and dedicated to our customers, their businesses and families.
  • Your: Customers, Employees, Communities and Shareholders.
  • Prosperity: Steadily improving conditions, not only in financial circumstances, but also in life, career, business, development, and recognition.
